SUBJECT:
Core course of the graduate program designed to present topics in linear algebra important in applications. Topics include: practical solution of systems of equations, projections, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, unitary transformations, similarity transformations, Jordan forms, and positive definite matrices.

CONTENTS:
The class will follow the outline below, touching on each major topic in a depth that will be determined by the pace of the class.

GRADING:
Tests 1, 2 - 30% each, Quizzes - 10% each. Extra credit will be given
for computer projects and active in-class participation.
