Project 2 is to learn some PETSc examples from SLES Examples Tutorial using departmental high-performance parallel Beowulf Cluster, supported by the NSF Award DMS MRI 0079719.

Compile and run the following examples:

ex2.c: Solves a linear system for the 2D Laplacian in parallel. Due March 12.
ex4.c: Uses a different preconditioner matrix and linear system matrix. Due March 12.
ex8.c: Illustrates use of the Additive Schwarz Method for solving a linear system in parallel.
Try removing user-defined subdomains, so that it actually runs in parallel. Due March 19.
ex10.c: Reads a PETSc matrix and vector from a file and solves a linear system. Due March 21.
ex12.c: Registering preconditioners. Due March 19.

Students should understand and be able to explain what these examples do. Every student will be responsible for one example. The reports will be in the form of 30 min class presentations.
