FINANCIAL SUPPORT:

STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION:

Any student (or new Ph.D., whose degree was awarded after January 1, 2002) is invited to submit a paper for a student paper competition. Thanks to funding from the Division of Mathematical Sciences Award, National Science Foundation, as many as 10 or more winners will be selected to receive financial support for travel expenses, lodging, and registration fee waivers.

The student or new Ph.D. must be the primary author. Sending only an abstract is unacceptable. Student papers should meet the requirements of the Instructions for Preparation of Papers and are accepted as email attachments sent to imacs03_student@math.cudenver.edu. If this is not possible, a hard copy of the paper may be submitted by regular post to:

Cathy Lee
Front Range Scientific Computations, Inc.
1390 Claremont Drive
Boulder, CO 80305

The deadline for submission papers of students requesting the conference support: 5 January 2003. No submissions received after the deadline will be eligible for this competition.

The Student Paper Competition Committee will inform the winners of travel awards by 20 January 2003.

Postdocs are not considered "students" for this competition (but may be considered "new Ph.Ds" if the degreee was awarded after January 1, 2002). Postdocs are not eligible for student registration fees.

ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL SUPPORT:
Depending on availability of funds, limited financial support may be available for students upon request, with a special effort to encourage women and minority students.

Applications for travel support are also encouraged from new researchers (recent Ph.D.s, post-doctoral students, and junior faculty), however, supporting students will be the main priority.

Colorado students will be offered registration fee waivers, if they register by 1 February 2003.
