Paper Assignment
Find an article full of statistical information and graphs on a
topic that you enjoy, perhaps in your major. Then answer one "In the
News" question from each of sections 5A, 5B, 5C, and 5D. So that's four
total questions, one question of your choosing per section. Please use
only one article to answer the questions.
Rules:
(1) Type it double-spaced.
(2) Attach the article.
(3) Use correct grammar and spellcheck it.
(4) Plagiarism = F in the class.
(5) The article may not come from the Internet. Get it from a
magazine, newspaper, professional journal, or published university
thesis.
(6) Answer your questions fully. That will determine the length of
your paper.
(7) State the questions you are answering.

Homework 10
-Due Wednesday,
March 31st at the beginning of class
Use any software package that you would like in order to construct 2
different graphs. You can choose to make a pie chart, a histogram,
a bar graph,
a line graph, a scatterplot, etc. Just make sure that the two
graphs that you make are different. You can graph any data that
you would like, you can make it up,
find relevant data from the textbook, or try recreating a graph or
chart you find in a magazine or newspaper. Remember, these cannot
be done by hand!!!! The goal of
this assignment is to familiarize yourself with software that is
capable of making professional looking graphs and charts. Remember
that both of your graphs should have:
1) A Title
2) A Legend
3) Clearly Labeled Axes
4) A feasible amount of information so that useful information
can be gained by looking at the graph or chart.
I highly suggest using Microsoft Excel to try to make your charts or
graphs. Become familiar with this statistical package and you will
be able to use it for
the rest of your life. Have fun and good luck.
P.S. It might be interesting to use this assignment to graph
something relevant to your project.
